I think on the one hand how much worse it could have been - but today's new possibility of looming surgery and close eye inspection incline me to realise it could have been better, too.

But I was cheered by several characters in A&E, so every cloud has a silver lining.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14506881804082382739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1248503935075362425.post-37209985919770784392010-11-19T22:05:21.246+00:002010-11-19T22:05:21.246+00:00I have already sent the expression of my feelings ...I have already sent the expression of my feelings through J as that expression is too intimate for me to exercise directly

If you thought my reaction not to be positive enough let me assure you that it is very deep and I feel almost as if the iron post had hit me. The Moravians are always invoked, but they were under the crown of Bohemia for all those centuries as one of the three territories ( the third was Silesia, snaffled by Frederick the Great apart from a little bit which justifies Silesia as a part of the coat of arms of the present state)David Damantnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1248503935075362425.post-51128348239974329892010-11-19T10:42:06.590+00:002010-11-19T10:42:06.590+00:00Which only goes to show we sometimes neglect build...Which only goes to show we sometimes neglect buildings of interest close to home: I've never seen the Finsbury Health Centre, though I know the Highpoint blocks. Nor have I ever taken advantage of my barely-used National Trust pass to look inside the Goldfinger House in Hampstead.

Villa Tugendhat is indeed beautiful in its expensive attention to detail. The fact, as Mawer points out in interview, that there have been so many cheap imitations shouldn't detract from its achievement.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14506881804082382739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1248503935075362425.post-46596706164862797422010-11-19T09:45:46.829+00:002010-11-19T09:45:46.829+00:00What a wonderful house. Not so dramatic or elegant as the Mies, but interesting nonetheless. And delapidating rapidly, it seems to me.
http://www.e-architect.co.uk/images/jpgs/london/finsbury_health_centre_avanti300109.jpgRoger Neillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16716925882482994792noreply@blogger.com
